Our Story

For most of my adult life, I’ve lived out of a suitcase. Not out of necessity, but by choice. As a marine engineer, I spent over a decade at sea and in transit — port to port, city to city — chasing work, curiosity, and sometimes just a better climate. The world opened itself up to me, but it also revealed how hard it was to find clothes that truly worked across it.
What I was after wasn’t complicated: clothes that breathed in heat, held their shape on long flights, looked sharp enough for a city dinner, but felt relaxed enough for a walk on the beach. Something unbranded, honest, and good — not overdesigned or logo-loud. Clothes I could wear when sweating under the equatorial sun or smoking a cigar on a quiet rooftop. Clothes that moved with me, not against me.
As someone born in the cold North, I’ve always struggled in warm, humid places. Sweating was just a daily truth — and most clothes made it worse. That’s when I began to really understand and appreciate what good fabrics could do. Linen. Silk. Wool. Natural materials that let your body breathe. Materials that don’t scream for attention, but quietly deliver comfort and elegance — the kind you only notice when it’s missing.
When I finally settled in Bali — after years of wandering and after meeting the woman who would become my wife — I started to wonder why it was so difficult to find this kind of clothing. Something that blended understated style with function. Pieces that didn’t fall apart after a season, that didn’t belong only to the beach or only to the boardroom. Something I’d feel good in — on the golf course, at a wedding, or on a long-haul flight.
So I stopped searching. And started creating.
Linen & Sons is not about chasing fashion. It’s about answering a need. About building a wardrobe of refined utility — a wardrobe for movement, for warmth, for simplicity, for grace. We choose natural, breathable materials not because they’re trendy, but because they feel right. We make garments for people who live — really live — and need clothing that quietly supports them in the background of a beautiful life.
That’s why we exist.
Not to impress — but to express a different kind of luxury. One rooted in ease, honesty, and detail.
